Planning & Development

Responsibilities
The Planning and Development Department is composed of four Divisions: the Planning Division, Building Division, Code Enforcement Division, and Administration Division.  Each division is designed to ensure the efficient use of land within the City and to provide its residents with a safe, livable, and functional community.

Building Division
The Building Division
is responsible for the areas of plan review and construction inspection. Construction inspection enforces the minimum standards adopted by the Board of Aldermen for construction inside the city limits of Branson. These standards regulate construction from a public safety, health, and welfare aspect. They also work to secure safety to life and property from all hazards incident to the occupancy of building structures or premises.

Code Enforcement Division
The Code Enforcement Division  The Code Enforcement Division handles the enforcement of many of the City’s ordinances, including signs, nuisances, and dangerous buildings.  Sign and banner permit applications are reviewed for compliance to code specifications.  They work with property owners when nuisance issues arise, such as weed growth, an accumulation of rubbish, inoperable vehicles, conditions that may adversely impact the health and safety of the public, and dangerous building abatement.

Planning Division
The Planning Division The Planning Division is responsible for helping the community to implement and update its Community Plan 2030. In doing so, they assist community members with their requests for annexation, zoning, special uses, special events, and any other request needing to go before the Board of Aldermen, Planning and Zoning Commission or Board of Adjustment.
