Tanger Blvd Construction Complete Ahead of Schedule & Under Budget

Residents and visitors to Branson’s Tanger Outlets will now experience better roads and sidewalks. The City of Branson Public Works/Engineering Department has just completed construction of Tanger Boulevard, ahead of schedule and more than $30,000 under budget. The project consisted of removal and replacement of existing concrete curb and gutter, sidewalks and roadway.

One of the reasons this project was such a priority for the city was the high traffic in that area and the condition of the pavement due to some things underneath the concrete that, over time, deteriorated the roads and sidewalks.

One such challenge city crews faced during this project was an 18-inch diameter Red Oak tree still standing vertical under the pavement. The Red Oak was removed and the excavated area filled with compacted rock. Several of these kind of obstacles heavily contributed to the failing pavement and resulted in a bad travel way.

All of the electrical has been removed and replaced with new conduit to proper depths. The city also diligently communicated with nearby property owners, motels, Krispy Kreme and Tanger Mall management about any construction detours and lane closures.

The Notice to Proceed date for this project was January 3, 2018. The project was a 90 calendar day contract and was substantially complete two weeks ahead of schedule.

The construction contract bid for this project was $396,749.00 and the final project cost was $363,562.23, meaning the project came in under budget by $33,186.77.
