City to Honor Employees During National Public Works Week

National Public Works Week Poster

The City of Branson invites the community to honor our Public Works, Engineering and Utilities Department by showing them your appreciation during National Public Works Week, May 19-25, 2019, a week to energize and educate the public on the importance of public works to their daily lives.

Branson Mayor, Edd Akers will sign a proclamation, acknowledging National Public Works Week and honoring our Public Works, Engineering and Utilities Department employees.

Many activities have been scheduled for the week, including the following:

  • Monday, May 20 -- Branson Bank will donate cookies that will be distributed to the employees.
  • Wednesday, May 22 -- Chick-Fil-a will donate tea, Dolly Parton’s Stampede will donate apple turnovers and Central Bank will donate bottles of water for a celebratory luncheon for the employees.
  • Thursday, May 23 -- Employees will be treated to coffee and muffins by historians Jim and Jean Babcock at the Branson Centennial Museum in Historic Downtown Branson.

The National Public Works Week theme for 2019 is “It Starts Here.”  What starts here?  Infrastructure, growth, innovation, mobility, security and healthy communities all start with public works. This year’s exciting poster embraces a game board concept that puts into perspective the many responsibilities public works and utilities professionals take on to build, maintain and support the infrastructure that helps our communities thrive.

Public Works, Engineering and Utilities Department employees include those who manage water, sewer, transportation, and environmental systems as well as those responsible for maintaining public buildings and grounds. They are the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety and comfort.
