The Branson Fire Department responded to a fire at the Fall Creek Steak & Catfish House, located at 997 State Highway 165, at about 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019.
Firefighters discovered a working fire in an HVAC unit with smoke traveling throughout the entire building.
The restaurant was open for business at the time of the fire. Fall Creek Steak & Catfish House employees were able to evacuate all guests safely. One employee attempted to fight the fire using a portable fire extinguisher and was treated on scene and transported to a hospital with minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one room, extinguish the fire and eject the smoke from the building to help reduce damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Fire officials are now focused on working with the restaurant owner and the Taney County Health Department to help get the restaurant back open as quickly as possible.
This fire was upgraded to a second alarm, which means additional fire personnel responded, including a fire marshal and chief officers. The Branson Police Department, Taney County Ambulance District, Missouri American Water, and the Taney County Health Department also responded.
