Branson Police Announces Teen Academy
The City of Branson Police Department will be hosting its first ever Teen Academy at Branson High School during the week of June 3rd.  The week-long course is designed to provide high school students with practical exercises, and allow them to explore potential careers, in law enforcement.  Activities will include an overview of criminal law and procedures with some hands-on activities such as mock vehicle stops and crime scene investigations.

Action taken by Branson Board of Aldermen at May 14th, 2013 meeting
The City of Branson was presented with the Governor’s Show-Me Heroes Flag of Freedom Award, for its participation in the Show-Me Heroes program.  The award recognizes participating Missouri employers which have hired at least one Missouri Veteran.  The City of Branson has hired 9 veterans since the program began in 2010.

Spirit of 76 Team kicks-off Vision Process
From the stage of Clay Cooper Theater on Tuesday afternoon, the spotlight shone on Branson’s historic Highway 76 Corridor as a team of engineers, architects and redevelopment specialists, known as the Spirit of 76 Team briefed community leaders on the vision and process for a revitalized Highway 76.  The approximately $80 million, 6 year, 5 mile long project will fundamentally transform America’s Entertainment Highway into an efficient, attractive, multi-modal corridor that will enhance the retail and entertainment venues along Highway 76, promote private investment and efficiently move travelers to their destinations beyond the corridor.

City focusing on Lake Taneycomo Acres for next neighborhood project
Branson city officials are preparing for the next in a series of neighborhood projects, this time with the Lake Taneycomo Acres and surrounding residential area. Spearheaded by the city’s planning and development department, these projects involve city staff and members of the Board of Aldermen working with residents of each neighborhood to identify the strengths and weaknesses of that particular area.

Brake for Seatbelts
The City of Branson Police Department will be joining with statewide law enforcement May 20- June 2 for an aggressive “Click It or Ticket” mobilization to crack down on Missouri’s seat belt violations – and save more lives.

Lakeside Forest Park Driveway Closure
The driveway entrance at the Lakeside Forest Wilderness Area, located on Fall Creek Road, will be closed to traffic starting at 7:00 a.m. Monday, May 13, 2013 through 6:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013.

Highway 76 Revitalization Kick-Off Event to be Held May 14
The public is invited to a special kick-off event for the City of Branson’s Highway 76 revitalization project on Tuesday, May 14, at the Clay Cooper Theatre. The City of Branson recently contracted with the New Spirit of 76 Team (led by Cook, Flatt & Strobel Engineers), which is made up of Engineers, Architects, Planners and Redevelopment Specialists, to propose and execute a process and project that will enhance the beauty, efficiency and energy along Highway 76.

Police Captain Retires
Captain Scotty Penner has retired from the City of Branson after more than 29 years of service to the city’s Police Department.  His official last day was May 1st.   A community reception was held in his honor at Branson City Hall, on April 30th.

Branson City Administrator Resigns
Today the Branson Board of Aldermen voted to accept the resignation of Administrator Dean Kruithof.
